What's a dedicated server?

Exactly as it sounds, it's a powerful computer, set up in a rack in a secure datacentre connected at high-speed to the rest of the Internet.

What are they suitable for?

A fully dedicated server could be used to host resource-intensive and highly active web sites, host corporate email, run specialist application such as audio/video streaming or gaming servers, or to resell and host thousands of web sites.

Hardware

Quite simply, our servers are provided by absolute UK-based experts and housed in incredibly high-tech datacentres.  We use top quality, professional suppliers who only use high quality PowerEdge servers offer a range of configurations to suit every need. Redundancy

As part of the service our suppliers keep hot-standby equipment ready in the datacentre to be used in the event of a major failure of any server. This means that if, for example, your server were to suffer a major hardware failure the disks can be swapped into a spare chassis and the server can be back up and running again very rapidly and with minimal disruption.

In addition to that, all our servers are equipped with RAID(1) disk mirroring which means that in the event of a hard disk failure (the most common component to fail) your server will just keep running, and technicians will be alerted so that they can schedule a replacement at your earliest convenience.

Storage capacity

The servers shown above can house a maximum of two 750GByte disks in a RAID1 array. If you need more than 750GBtes of storage (and we do not allow non RAID systems, so that is the limit) then please get in touch as we might be able to help

Operating systems and Control Panel software

We offer Linux-based operating systems including Debian (our recommendation), Fedora Core at no extra charge, or now offer RedHat Enterprise ES for an additional £24.99/month.
We also offer Windows 2003 server (standard edition) for an additional £35.99/month.

If you do not want to have to administer the server manually then we would strongly recommend a Control Panel to allow you to administer the server, run domain, web & email hosting services and setup web sites / email accounts via a Web based interface. Our recommended control panel is cPanel/WHM (optionally with Fantastico) which is best installed on Centos or Fedora Core, and costs an extra £29.99/month. If you require a Windows Server system we do not currently offer any control panel ourselves, but would recommend Plesk available from SWsoft.

How to order:

  • Simply order 1 of the Enbeserver of your choice for every month of service (e.g. quantity 1 = 1 month) after customising it to your needs or ordering the standard server package.  The minimum order period is six months' rental.
  • Your Enbeserver will be set up within five working days and you'll be emailed your username and password.
  • When your Enbeserver is due for renewal, you'll be sent an email and postal reminder.  Cleared payment is due in advance of renewal date.
  • That's it!

IMPORTANT: It is up to you to ensure you make payment to renew your server rental on time, in advance of the expiry date/time.  To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible or liable in any way for any direct or indirect losses relating to the cessation of provision of services due to non-payment.
