Important - Transfer Information
You need to be of various points.
Firstly, when you ask us to transfer a domain, the procedure is different depending on
the domain ending (eg .co.uk, .com etc.) and the way in which your current domain/hosting
provider (your current 'host') originally set up the domain and/or hosting. In this text,
we also use the word Registrar to mean the 'host' for your domain.
You should use our Domain Checker (see the link on the left hand side of this page)
to check the email address of the 'Administrative Contact' for your existing domain
name before initiating a domain transfer to Enbecom Solutions. Some important transfer-related
emails will go to this address so it must be valid.
With some domains (like .co.uk) we will send you, the customer, full instructions of what
to do. This will involve you contacting your existing host by email or post to ask them
to make a couple of technical changes, and to cancel your account with the host if this
is appropriate (we will provide a template for the wording to send to the host).
With other domains (like .com), the registered owner of the domain will be sent a confirmation
request via email to the address that is listed as the 'Administrative contact' on a 'Whois search'.
You can do a 'Whois search' free by using our Domain Checker - this will tell you who is the
administrative contact - it may be you, or it may be your hosting company. If it's you, then
you just follow the instructions in the email. If it isn't, then you'll need to write to
your existing hosts asking them to action the transfer - we'll send you an email telling
you the technical information that they need to know.
Please note that your existing hosting company may action the transfer immediately,
or they may ask you to fill in a form. Also, they may charge a fee for the transfer and/or
for other reasons. You are responsible for paying any fees to your existing host.
On receiving the required information it can take up to 5 days for the transfer to be completed.
VERY IMPORTANT: We use an automated system for domain transfers. This uses a system of
transfer 'windows' - in other words, a specific amount of time in which a domain name transfer
must take place - the lengths of which are outside of our control. You must make sure
that you follow any insructions we send you immediately, and that your current hosts action
the transfer as soon as possible - within 10-20 days. After 30 days, this 'window' will expire.
If a domain name transfer is not completed in the specified time, you will have to re-apply
for your domain name transfer and pay for the domain name again.
Your current registrar can deny a transfer for several reasons:
- If the present Registrar has emailed the domain admin contact for confirmation that the
Registrar transfer can go through and has not had a confirmation reply back within 3/5 days.
- Domain is not paid for: If your domain is due for renewal with the current registrar,
you have up until the day before the renewal date to complete the transfer of your domain.
After that, you will have to pay the current registrar a renewal fee before you will be able to
transfer your domain.
- Domain is less than 60 days old: A domain cannot be transferred within the first
60 days after it has been registered. The current registrar will automatically decline transfers
that occur in the first 60 days of a domain name being registered.
- Domain is involved in a legal dispute: If your domain is the subject of a litigation
matter, involved in a bankruptcy proceeding, trademark dispute or dispute over the identity of the
registrant, the current registrar will refuse to transfer your domain.
- At the discretion of the current registrar: The current registrar of your domain
can also deny the transfer at their discretion. Your transfer cannot however, be denied without a valid reason.
Please note again, that if the transfer fails due to a lack of authorisation within the specified
time period or due to rejection by your current registrar then unfortunately we will be unable to return any fees.
