We’re pleased to announce that the latest and greatest version of PHP – 8.3 – is now available on all our currently available web hosting plans.

PHP is the language behind millions of websites, powering WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento and loads more off-the-shelf and custom web applications.

The improvements and new features include:

  • Deep cloning of readonly properties
  • New Classes, Interfaces, and functions
  • Stack overflow detection
  • #[Override] attribute
  • New stream_context_set_options function
  • Dynamic class constant fetch
  • Typed class constants
  • Fallback value support for PHP INI Environment Variable syntax
  • Randomizer additions
  • New json_validate() function
  • Deprecations and backward compatibility breaks
  • New Randomizer::getBytesFromString() method
  • New Randomizer::getFloat() and Randomizer::nextFloat() methods

You can easily switch your hosting on an individual domain or even subdomain basis to use PHP 8.3, if you know that the website you’re running or building supports it, or if you just want to try it out.  Simply log in to your hosting cPanel (directly, or via your Enbecom Account) to make the switch.

Over the coming months and years, website platforms, themes and plugin modules will be updated to run on PHP 8.3.  We have now stopped supporting PHP 8.0 on our shared hosting plans, following it being discontinued in November 2023, with our minimum supported version moving to 8.1.  Last year we said goodbye to the PHP 7 series, when it was discontinued by its developers.

If you’re a hosting client you can easily switch your site to PHP 8.1, 8.2 or 8.3 in your control panel to see what happens.

If you’d like to bring your website to a UK-based hosting plan where the key software components are regularly updated for performance and security, take a look at our transfer offer.
