May 2026 is a great moment to reflect on the practical impact of everyday choices, including how we power and run digital services. Through our ongoing support of environmental projects around the world with our eco-project partner Ecologi, we’re spotlighting two initiatives that focus on long-term resilience: Project 1, carbon removal through reforestation in Australia, and Project 2, planting forest gardens in Mount Elgon, Uganda.

Project 1: carbon removal through reforestation in Australia

Reforestation is one of the most established nature-based ways to draw carbon from the atmosphere, but the best projects do far more than plant trees. In Australia, restoring degraded land with a variety of indigenous trees and shrubs helps rebuild ecosystems that have been under pressure for decades, supporting healthier soils, improved water retention, and stronger biodiversity.

By prioritising native species, this kind of reforestation work helps repair habitat and encourages the return of wildlife by creating food sources, shelter, and connected corridors across the landscape. It also supports more stable landscapes over time, as diverse planting can be better suited to local conditions than single-species approaches.

Project 2: planting forest gardens in Mount Elgon, Uganda

Forest gardens are a powerful example of climate-smart agriculture in action. By growing a diverse mix of crops, farmers reduce the risk of income loss if one crop fails due to changing weather patterns, pests, or market fluctuations. Diversity brings stability, and stability is essential for communities facing increasing uncertainty.

Alongside planting, the project provides training and equipment that help farmers protect and strengthen their livelihoods. This practical support can improve productivity and resilience, while encouraging sustainable land use that benefits both people and the surrounding environment over the long term.

We’re proud to have funded the planting of 4751 trees since the start of our partnership with Ecologi over 5 years.
