April 2026 is a great moment to reflect on the positive impact that small, consistent actions can have at a global scale. Through our ongoing support of environmental projects around the world with our eco-project partner Ecologi, we are spotlighting two initiatives in Brazil this month: Project 1, conserving the Amazon, and Project 2, restoring degraded land in the Atlantic Forest.
Project 1: conserving the Amazon in Brazil
The Amazon rainforest plays a critical role in regulating the global climate, supporting biodiversity, and sustaining livelihoods across South America and beyond. Although there was a decline in the Brazilian deforestation rate from 2004 to 2012, recent years have witnessed a concerning resurgence in these figures, putting ecosystems and communities under renewed pressure.
Conservation projects in the Amazon focus on protecting standing forest by supporting monitoring, enforcement, and community-led stewardship. By helping keep existing forests intact, these initiatives safeguard habitats, reduce carbon emissions associated with land clearance, and strengthen long-term resilience for people and wildlife that depend on the rainforest.
Project 2: restoring degraded land in Brazil
Brazil’s Atlantic Forest is one of the most biologically rich regions on Earth, yet it has been heavily fragmented over time. It is home to over 23,000 plant species, 40% of which are endemic to the Atlantic Forest, and a third of those species cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Restoration work here is about more than planting trees; it is about rebuilding complex, interconnected ecosystems.
Restoring degraded land helps reconnect habitats, stabilise soils, improve water cycles, and create conditions for native species to return. Over time, reforestation and regeneration can support healthier landscapes for local communities and agriculture, while also increasing biodiversity and carbon sequestration in a region where every restored hectare counts.
We’re proud to have funded the planting of 4739 trees since the start of our partnership with Ecologi over 5 years.
